Mood Board type thing #1

Decided to start making once a week mood board things on this blog just to keep me inspired and focused.

I'm currently working on some painting stuff; I have one painting in progress that has a similar-ish color palette to this board, but the next painting I'm going to start, I want to have vintage 1920's subjects like on here.

Brimfield

I went to the Brimfield Antique Market a few weeks ago.

Good times were had.

I bought a long sleeve white puffy shirt with an embroidered collar that I'm going to sew to make it sleeveless. And I also got two old photographs for $1.

Wonder Woman, Pee Wee, and the Golden Girls.
Favorite people ever.

The woman who ran this booth yelled at me "NO PHOTOGRAPHY, PLEASE"
and then I apologized sincerely to her.
But as I was walking away I heard her talking about me under her breath.
Like come on seriously.

Drawing class

Here are a few examples of some of the things I've been doing in my drawing class recently. For the first few weeks we were doing just line drawings focusing on proportion, perspective, and measurement and all that jazz which was kind of boring. But just last week we finally got in introducing shading, but doing a cross contour style of shading.
I'm thinking I may go back into these 3 drawings and work on them more even though I don't have the original set ups in front of me. I just like the way they were going and think they could look even more finished looking then I'd be 100% happy with them.

Feel Good Mix

I made a “feel good” playlist last night. So if there is anyone else who needs some songs that can also get you out of a bad mood, download all the songs in the playlist I made for you all. I made it so that you can download each song at a time so if there are certain songs you might already have or just a certain song you don’t want, you don’t have to download it. But if you do decide to download them all, make sure to listen to them in the order I give here, I spent a lot of time of setting them up in a way that flowed together well.
ENJOY!

Beauty

I had my crit for my video in my Time class this morning. I think the crit itself went well, but I did receive some good advice on what I should do if I were to re-edit it. My teacher seemed to really like and thought the concept behind it was good and was visually interesting for the most part.

Our project was really open ended, but we were given an assignment two weeks ago to choose 100 found images online that we personally think are beautiful, then narrow down those 100 images to 20, and of those 20, include at least 3 of our own photos.

These are the 20 images I chose.

These next 6 images are photos I have taken.

While I was trying to find images for the first week, I kept stumbling upon gifs and videos that I wished I could have included in my set, but it was impossible to use because my teacher really wanted still images. So based on that idea, I went through my YouTube favorites and chose 20 that I thought were the most visually interesting. I chose small, few second clips and edited the clips to coincide with footage of me throwing the original pictures on the ground. I tried to make parallels between each of the images and the clips I chose based on similar forms, colors, speed, moods, and/or concepts. Even though a lot of the images and especially the video clips are not exactly what society would normally think of as typical beauty, this is sort of a chaotic visual representation of what I believe is beautiful.

This video is different than any sort of video I've ever made before and though there are some points my classmates made about how to fix it, I'm really happy with the final results. I'm also happy that I was even able to crank this video out because I literally had like 3 or 4 original ideas that included projecting the images, recording me throwing the pictures on my computer screen, and other technical stuff that didn't work out in the end. This was all sort created last minute the day before it was due, but there were still tons of hours that went into making it.

So here it is in all it's glory. Enjoy.
